Summer Visiting Students FAQs

  • All faculty, staff, students, and guests are assigned a Rutgers unique identifier known as a NetID, comprised of initials and a unique number (e.g. jqs23). In order to access many of the electronic services available to you at Rutgers, you need to activate your Rutgers NetID at netid.rutgers.edu using your assigned RUID that you will receive after filling out the Visiting Student Registration Form.

Your assigned NetID will appear on the activation screen. The NetID will enable you to open an email and computer account, view course materials and your grades online, and access other services. We encourage you to create a Rutgers email address so your email address appears on an enrollment roster and in the online directory.

  • If classes have not yet begun, you may visit WebReg to change your course. During the change of course registration period, contact One-Stop Student Services Center.

  • Please check the cancellation and withdrawal deadlines, then visit WebReg to complete the transaction.

  • Log into the Student Accounting System to view and pay your term bill online. You may reference the Summer Session bill and payment checklist for further assistance.

For further questions regarding bill payment or billing please contact One-Stop Student Services Center

  • An SPN (Special Permission Number) is a 6 digit code that allow students to register for a closed or restricted section. When entered into the online registration system, the SPN helps you gain access to closed courses. Please know that applying for an SPN does not mean that you are guaranteed to receive one.

  • SPNs are assigned based on seniority, amount of cumulative credits, and availability. Please contact the offering department to see if an SPN is available for the course.

  • If the course you want to register for is closed, keep checking the University Schedule of Classes for openings. Due to large demand for our courses and limited number of open seats, some courses are unable to issue SPNs for closed courses. Please do not request an SPN for a specific section when other sections of the course are still open.

  • You can check your unofficial transcript from your MyRutgers dashboard. You may request your official Rutgers transcript here.

  • High school students are not eligible to register for Summer Session, but may apply to take eligible Summer Session courses through the Summer Scholars program.
